The Influence of Conservative Treatment on Neutrophil Granulocyte Activity in Peripheral Blood in Individuals with Gingival Inflammation

Abstract:

The aim of the study was to assess the changes in the periodontium and conduct tests of the activity of neutrophil granulocytes (PMN) in peripheral blood of patients with adult periodontitis (AP) before and after treatment and to compare these results with those obtained with the group treated with anti-inflammatory drugs and Tolpa Peat Preparation (TPP). Impaired phagocytic function of neutrophil granulocytes was found in the group with AP. The mean value for tests for phagocytic activity of PMN increased after treatment. A statistically significant increase in mean values for these tests was observed only in the group treated with the Tolpa Peat Preparation (TPP).
